Established 20 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Falling Walls is a global event dedicated to supporting science and the humanities.

At Falling Walls, researchers present their ground-breaking science in just 3 minutes to an audience of their peers, a jury of experts from academia and business, and the general public.

Winners of the KAUST competition in 2023 are:

• 1st place Yue Yuan; Breaking the Wall of Energy-Hungry Electronics  
• 2nd place Baha Eddine Belmekki; Breaking the Wall of Internet Inequality  
• 3rd place Montserrat Ramirez De Angel; Breaking the Wall of Speech Impediments, and Esraa Fakeih; Breaking the Wall of Sever Allergies.
